Elizabeth Hamman is an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She combines theoretical and empirical approaches in her research on coastal systems, with a focus on spatial patterning in ecological systems and biogenic habitats such as coral reefs and saltmarshes.
- Education: B.A. in Marine Biology/Applied Mathematics (New College of Florida, 2010), Ph.D. in Ecology (University of Georgia, 2017)
Her research interests include:
- Causes and consequences of spatial patterning in ecological systems
- Interactions between environmental stressors and predators
- Impact of methodology (field and statistical) on ecological conclusions
- Improving quantitative aspects of undergraduate biology education
She is actively involved in the NSF-funded Research Coordination Network BIOGRAPHI and previously participated in the NSF IGERT program QSE3 during her Ph.D. studies.
