Elizabeth Godin serves as a Lecturer in the Biology department at Marist University, actively engaged in the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program since Spring 2022 through projected courses in Fall 2025.
Her research focuses on Microbiology and Phage Genomics, utilizing Arthrobacter globiformis as a host organism for bacteriophage discovery and genomic analysis. She specializes in both experimental in situ phage isolation techniques and computational in silico bioinformatics approaches.
Dr. Godin instructs multiple sections of BIOL130 (Phage Discovery) and BIOL131L (Phage Genomics) courses, typically teaching 3 sessions weekly for 5.5 hours per section with enrollments ranging from 12-24 students. Her courses primarily serve freshmen (constituting 60-100% of enrollments) with supplementary participation from sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
As a core SEA-PHAGES faculty member, she contributes to this national network advancing undergraduate science education through authentic research experiences in bacteriophage biology and evolutionary genomics.
