معرفی
Elizabeth Duxbury is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA). She leads an active Leverhulme Trust-funded project (2023–2027) investigating the mechanisms and adaptive value of transgenerational epigenetic effects. Her research focuses on evolutionary and mechanistic aspects of aging, lifespan extension, and the interplay between genetics, diet, and immunity in model organisms like C. elegans and Drosophila melanogaster.
Her work explores topics such as insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathways, antiviral immunity, life-history trade-offs, and the developmental origins of aging. Notable recent studies include demonstrating how reduced insulin signaling enhances survival under viral infection and how multigenerational dietary interventions influence lineage fitness.
Dr. Duxbury collaborates widely, with projects spanning evolutionary biology, immunology, and ecological physiology. She has contributed to datasets on sexual conflict resolution via dietary manipulation and published extensively on topics like host-pathogen coevolution and lifespan variability. Her findings align with the developmental theory of aging, emphasizing early-life programming of longevity.
She currently supervises PhD students and actively engages in research grants, including studies on transgenerational epigenetics and aging mechanisms. Her work has been cited over 90 times and includes open-access publications in journals like Evolution, Proceedings of the Royal Society B, and GeroScience.
