Elizabeth Corteselli

Elizabeth Corteselli, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Allergy/Immunology and a member of the Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology (CEMALB) at the UNC School of Medicine since 2023. She earned her PhD from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health under Dr. Jim Samet (U.S. EPA) and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Vermont with Dr. Yvonne Janssen-Heininger, supported by a Parker B. Francis Fellowship.

• Techniques: Genetically-encoded sensors, redox biology assays

Her work examines oxidative stress mechanisms in lung pathologies through experimental models and advanced imaging. Publications highlight redox-active pollutants, mitochondrial dysfunction, and protein oxidation in pulmonary systems. She contributes to understanding environmental toxin impacts on airway epithelial cells.
