Elizabeth Bewie serves as the interim head of Music Education and a Visiting Instructor I in Music Education at Florida Gulf Coast University's Bower School of Music & the Arts. With over two decades of experience, she has taught choral, general music, piano, and musical theatre at middle school, high school, and college levels across New Jersey, Ohio, and Florida.
Her professional engagements include performances with renowned orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra, vocal direction for musicals, and accompaniment roles at prestigious institutions like Westminster Choir College. She has organized choral festivals for students from elementary through college levels, and excels in curriculum development, mentorship, and program leadership.
Elizabeth holds a B.M. in Music Education from Westminster Choir College, an M.A. in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and has completed all coursework toward a PhD in Music Education at the University of Florida. Her work emphasizes empowering students through ownership of learning and strengthening music programs through strategic recruitment and retention initiatives.
