Elizabeth Bailey is an Associate Professor and Director of the Elizabeth Bryan Multiple Births Centre (EBMBC) at Birmingham City University. She joined BCU in 2021 after working as a Clinical Academic Midwife at Coventry University and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, where she was also a NIHR 70@70 Senior Midwife Researcher. Her research focuses on complex pregnancy, maternity service organization, and digital health innovation, particularly in supporting multiple birth families. She leads the EBMBC, a partnership with the Multiple Births Foundation, aiming to become a global leader in multiple pregnancy education and research.
Liz holds a Doctorate and has supervised midwives at Masters and doctoral levels. She advocates for clinical academic careers and was awarded a HEE Topol Fellowship in 2021 for her work in digital health. Her research spans maternal inequality, inflammatory bowel disease in pregnancy, and midwifery workforce mental health. She has contributed to national initiatives like evaluating the Baby Buddy app for antenatal care.
