Elizabeth Allan is a Professor of Higher Education at the University of Maine’s College of Education and Human Development. Her research focuses on campus cultures, diversity, equity, and student hazing prevention. She is the author of two books, co-editor of a third, and has published over 40 articles and chapters. Dr. Allan’s work applies critical and poststructural discourse perspectives to policy analysis.

Research Interests: Dr. Allan’s scholarship explores campus climates, hazing prevention, and gender equity in higher education. Her 2003 article in the Harvard Educational Review earned the AERA Division J Outstanding Publication Award. She leads the National Hazing Prevention Consortium and has advised the U.S. Senate on hazing issues.
