معرفی
Elizabeth A. Barnes is an Associate Professor of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University (CSU). She joined CSU in 2013 after earning dual B.S. (Honors) degrees in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Minnesota, a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Washington, and completing a NOAA Climate & Global Change Fellowship at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. Her research focuses on large-scale atmospheric variability, jet-stream dynamics, Arctic-midlatitude connections, subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) prediction of extreme weather events, health-related climate impacts, and data science methods like machine learning and causal discovery. She teaches graduate courses on atmospheric dynamics and statistical analysis methods.
Barnes leads the NOAA MAPP S2S Prediction Task Force and serves on advisory panels including NCAR's ACOM Laboratory, NSF Arctic Sciences Section, AMS AOFD Committee, and editorial boards of the Journal of Climate and npj Climate and Atmospheric Science. She is also a member of the International Commission on Dynamical Meteorology (IAMAS).
