Elita Poplavska is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Pharmacy at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), Faculty of Pharmacy, serving as a Pharmaceutical Project Manager. Her expertise lies in pharmacovigilance, medication safety, and public health strategies. She holds Expert qualifications in Basic Medicine from the Latvian Council of Science (2019–2025).
Her research focuses on vaccine safety, antimicrobial resistance, and the communication of medication risks. Key projects include implementing patient-reported outcomes in breast cancer care, reducing antimicrobial resistance, and enhancing vaccination coverage strategies. She has collaborated internationally, including with Utrecht University and the European Medicines Agency.
Her work bridges clinical practice and policy, addressing challenges in risk communication for adverse drug events and improving healthcare professional practices. She has advised on EU risk minimization measures and contributed to studies on thrombosis risks linked to adenovirus vaccines.
Mentoring students like Līga Maļina and Anete Vīksna, she leads interdisciplinary projects involving over 20 collaborators. Her media contributions include commentary on vaccination strategies and medication safety during public health crises.
