Prof. Elise van Nederveen Meerkerk is a Professor of Economic and Social History at Utrecht University, specializing in the history of labour relations, particularly focusing on women’s and children’s work in global and colonial contexts. She holds a PhD from Utrecht University (2007) and has held additional roles such as Extraordinary Professor at Radboud University (2017–2020). Her research explores colonial economies, gender dynamics, and global textile production.
