Elise Ji Young Choe

Elise Ji Young Choe serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services within Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology (2021) and M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2015) from Georgia State, plus a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Georgia (2010).

Dr. Choe's research pioneers critical positive psychology, examining how virtues promote resilience through cultural humility frameworks while deconstructing Western-centric psychological models from post-colonial perspectives. Her work spans clinician flourishing, psychotherapy processes, and trauma recovery, with strong emphasis on serving diverse communities.
