Elise Gane

Dr Elise Gane is an Honorary Research Fellow at The University of Queensland (UQ), affiliated with the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and the Centre for Neurorehabilitation, Ageing and Balance Research. She holds a joint appointment with the Princess Alexandra Hospital Physiotherapy Department. Her roles include mentoring physiotherapists in health service-based research and teaching systematic review methodology to graduate students.

Dr Gane holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours Class I) and a PhD from UQ (2008, 2018). Her research focuses on codesign, implementation science, oncology rehabilitation, musculoskeletal health, and workplace health. She has led studies on telehealth exercise programs for cancer patients, return-to-work outcomes after road traffic injuries, and rehabilitation therapies for phantom limb pain.

Her research interests span chronic disease management, physical activity interventions, and ergonomic workplace adaptations. Key projects include evaluating telehealth cardiac rehabilitation and creating clinical documentation resources for physiotherapy educators. She has collaborated on over 40 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on musculoskeletal rehabilitation, rehabilitation outcomes, and clinical service evaluations.

Dr Gane’s funded projects include studies on road traffic injury recovery, telehealth exercise implementation, and workplace ergonomics. She has contributed to clinical guidelines for discharge planning and multidisciplinary care in critical care settings. Her work emphasizes translating research into clinical practice through collaborative, patient-centered approaches.
