Elisabeth Tauber is a full-time Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Design and Arts, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz). Her academic journey began with a doctorate in Sociocultural Anthropology from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2007), supported by an FP5 grant and the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
- Interdisciplinary collaborations with ecologists, historians, and designers
- Co-founder of the Malinowski Forum for Ethnography and Anthropology (MFEA)
Her research spans nomadism, gift economies, and interspecies dialogue, focusing on European grassland landscapes and Romani communities. Recent work explores the socialities of grasslands and environmental transformations in the Anthropocene.
Key publications include Herders in Transformation (2024) and Walking on Alpine Grass (2023), reflecting her interests in landscape studies, archival ethnography, and multispecies coexistence. She teaches courses in art-based ethnography and environmental anthropology at the doctoral and master’s levels.
