Elisabeth Sattler

Elisabeth Sattler is a full Professor at the Institute of Education in the Arts (IKL) at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, holding the Chair in Pedagogy, Arts, and Culture with a focus on general educational theory. She has been in this role since 2012 and is responsible for foundational educational concepts in teacher training programs (BA and MA).

• Education: Habilitation in educational science at the University of Vienna (2012)

Research Focus: Elisabeth’s work centers on educational theories and practices, subject studies, learning and teaching theories, and foundational questions in educational science, particularly in educational philosophy. She explores intersections between arts-based education and theoretical frameworks for pedagogical development.

Teaching Responsibilities: Elisabeth teaches core courses such as "Seminar für Dissertant_innen" (dissertation seminar), "Bachelorarbeit" (bachelor thesis work), and "Lese- und Diskussionspraxis" (reading and discussion practices) at both bachelor’s and master’s levels, alongside collaborative teaching with colleagues like Johannes Köck. She also leads the lecture series "Über Bildung und Subjektivität nachdenken" (Reflecting on Education and Subjectivity).

Academic Career: Prior to her current role, Elisabeth held a tenure-track position at the Institute for Educational Science at the University of Vienna until 2012. She has also served as a visiting professor and guest lecturer at institutions such as TU Darmstadt and Dortmund.
