Elisabeth Klecker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classical Philology, Medieval and Neolatin Studies at the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies. Her research focuses on classical texts, medieval Latin literature, and cultural history, with special attention to Habsburg cultural heritage and book culture. She actively participates in interdisciplinary projects like ManMAX: Managing Maximilian (2023–2027), exploring the cultural legacy of Maximilian I.
Her work bridges philological analysis with visual and institutional history, as seen in studies on Renaissance manuscript illustrations and university protocols during the 16th-century plague. Recent publications include analyses of classical reception in early modern German scholarship and the interplay between antiquity and modernity in intellectual discourse.
