Elisabeth Gibert Sotelo

Elisabeth Gibert Sotelo serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Philology and Communication at the University of Girona since February 2025. Previously, she held positions as Serra Hútner Lecturer at UdG (2023-2025), Juan de la Cierva researcher at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (2020-2023), and associate professor at both Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2018-2020) and University of Girona (2017-2019), with additional research experience at University of Oxford (2019).

Her academic credentials include:

• PhD in Linguistics from University of Girona (2017), awarded Extraordinary Doctoral Award and National Award from Spanish Linguistics Society for thesis on “negative prefixation and lexicon-syntax interface,” funded by FPU fellowship (2013-2017)

Dr. Gibert Sotelo’s research examines critical interactions between morphology, syntax, lexicon, and semantics within Spanish linguistics, with extensions into linguistic variation and discourse analysis. As active member of ROLLING research group (URV) and LIDIAGC group (UdG), she contributes to theoretical frameworks through publications in high-impact venues including Glossa, Morphology, and Linguistic Variation.
