She serves as Associate Director of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development and Co-Director of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, demonstrating deep institutional engagement in developmental science and disability research.
Her research focuses on the intersection of psychopathology and neurocognitive functioning in individuals with genetic intellectual and developmental disabilities, particularly Prader-Willi syndrome, Williams syndrome, and Down syndrome. Key areas include compulsive behaviors, anxiety, depression, and adaptive challenges, alongside investigations into unique strengths such as visual-spatial abilities and musical talents. Her work integrates developmental psychopathology with positive psychology to improve interventions and understand typical development.
Current research explores physiological and neurological mechanisms of compulsivity, trajectories of adaptive skills across the lifespan, family stress and coping, and how cognitive profiles can inform personalized treatment. While specific publications and awards are not listed, her research agenda spans behavioral, cognitive, and family systems levels, contributing significantly to both clinical and developmental science.
