Elisabeth Alderks is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at St. Olaf College. She also holds affiliations with the departments of History, Nordic Studies, and the Writing Program. Her research focuses on the ethical potential of ironic critique in world literary texts and the intersection of literature, social critique, and technology in a globalized context. She teaches courses that explore these themes, emphasizing textual circulation and digital tools' role in cultural understanding.
Dr. Alderks earned her BA from St. Olaf College (2010), followed by an MA and PhD in English from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (2013, 2019). Her current research project investigates digital tools' impact on cross-cultural literary exchange, questioning whether the internet fosters global literary connection or reinforces cultural limitations.
Her office hours include Tuesdays 10:30-11:30, Thursdays 10:30-11:30 (in-person at Rølvaag Library 409), and Wednesdays 1-2 (virtual), with additional availability by appointment.
