Elisabet Engel Lopez

Elisabet Engel Lopez is a Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, affiliated with the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE). She holds additional affiliations with the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and leads the research group IMEM-BRT (Innovation in Materials and Molecular Engineering - Biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies). Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Her research focuses on Bioengineering, with specialized interests in Stem Cell applications, Tissue Engineering, and Regenerative Medicine. She investigates biomaterial development for therapeutic solutions, leveraging interdisciplinary approaches at the intersection of biology and materials science.

Engel Lopez has participated in 14 competitive R&D projects and 10 non-competitive R&D initiatives (as per activity records spanning 1996–2023). She maintains active collaborations through UPC's multi-scale science networks and co-leads the CIEFMA-UPC research center focused on structural integrity and micromaterials.
