Elisa J. Blethen serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University. She holds a Doctor of Intercultural Studies (DIS) from Fuller Theological Seminary in California (2018), a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida (2006), and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Adventist University (2000).
Her research focuses on the unique intersection of healthcare finance and administration within mission hospital contexts, particularly examining cross-cultural management practices. Her primary scholarly work centers on Malamulo Hospital in Malawi, Africa, where she conducted an internal study on culturally appropriate employee management practices (2017-2018) as Principal Investigator. This research culminated in her 2018 doctoral thesis examining cross-cultural management specifically within this Seventh-Day Adventist mission hospital setting.
