معرفی
Elina Spyrou is a Leverhulme Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London's Faculty of Engineering. Her research focuses on sustainable energy systems, power system planning, and risk management in electricity markets. She holds a PhD in Geography and Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (2019), an MSc in Environmental Science and Policy (2016), and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2012).
Her work emphasizes developing engineering-economic optimization models to analyze policies and market solutions for cost-effective, reliable, and equitable energy transitions. Notable contributions include a Nature Energy cover feature (2019) on power system planning in fragile regions and research supported by ARPA-E, DOE programs, and the Onassis Foundation.
Key areas of research include renewable energy integration, grid flexibility mechanisms (e.g., Flexibility Options), probabilistic forecasting, and risk management frameworks. Her studies span case analyses in ERCOT, California ISO, and MISO, addressing imbalance risk and market design innovations.
Awards include the Onassis Foundation scholarship and ARPA-E project support. She collaborates with the Control and Power Research Group and has contributed to tools like the ReEDS model for power system planning. Her work bridges technical, economic, and policy dimensions to advance resilient and sustainable energy systems.
