Elin Kubberød

Elin Kubberød is a Professor and Prorektor for Utdanning (Prorector for Education) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), with a strong academic and practical background in entrepreneurship and innovation. She holds a Professor II (adjunct) position at the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo (UiO), where she teaches a PhD course on Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights. Her work spans research, teaching, and institutional leadership, with deep engagement in entrepreneurship education and pedagogical innovation.

Her research focuses on entrepreneurial learning, small business strategies in agritech and high-tech sectors, immigrant entrepreneurship, and consumer-driven innovation in food and startups. She has pioneered the nationally top-ranked Master’s programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at NMBU, unique in accepting students from all academic backgrounds. Her pedagogical research includes developing methodologies in innovation and consumer insight, and she leads a widely recognized peer-mentoring model adopted across Norwegian universities.

Elin has been recognized with multiple teaching awards, including the Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP) status in 2020 and the Education Quality Award in 2018 for her peer-mentoring program. She was also selected as a best practice case by NOKUT in 2018. Her practical experience includes founding startups and co-establishing Ard Innovation (formerly NMBU’s TTO) from 2009–2013, enriching her teaching with real-world insights.

She supervises master’s and PhD students and is actively involved in curriculum development and educational leadership. Her peer-mentoring model has been implemented at NMBU and inspired similar programs at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) and other departments. She has also contributed to national collaboration through the Norgesuniversitet project.

Elin Kubberød is affiliated with the Rektoratet (Rectorate) at NMBU and leads educational strategy at the institutional level. Her interdisciplinary background combines Food Science (MSc, NMBU) and Marketing (PhD, BI Norwegian Business School), enabling a unique cross-sectoral approach to innovation and entrepreneurship.
