معرفی
Eliisa Lotsari is an Assistant Professor and Academy Research Fellow in the Department of Built Environment at Aalto University. She specializes in fluvial processes, geoinformatics, and climate change impacts on river systems. Her work bridges hydrology, environmental engineering, and remote sensing to address challenges in cold-climate river dynamics and water resource management.
**Education**:
- PhD in Geography (2012), University of Turku (Thesis: Fluvial processes and future magnitudes)
- Docent in Fluvial Geomorphology (2016), University of Turku
- MSc in Geography (2007), University of Turku
**Research Focus**:
Her research integrates field observations, numerical modeling, and remote sensing to study ice-covered rivers, sediment transport, and the impacts of permafrost degradation. Key areas include river morphodynamics under climate change, digital twin technologies for river basins, and sensor-based erosion monitoring.
**Grants & Projects**:
- Lead PI of *DefrostingRivers* series (Academy of Finland), studying sediment dynamics in seasonally frozen rivers.
- Co-lead of *HYDRO-RI-platform*, developing autonomous sensor networks for boreal river monitoring.
- Principal investigator of *Green-Digi-Basin*, focusing on digital transition in river management.
**Awards**:
- Aalto Research Impact Award (2024)
**Labs/Teams**:
Coordinates Aalto’s water engineering research group, collaborating with international teams on flume experiments, drone-based monitoring, and chilled laboratory setups for cryospheric studies.
