Elif KOCABIYIK SAVASTA

Asst. Prof. Elif KOCABIYIK SAVASTA is a faculty member at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, specializing in Industrial Design. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Design from Istanbul Technical University (2012), an M.Sc. from Izmir Institute of Technology (2004), and a B.E. in Textile Engineering from Ege University (2000). Currently serving as Erasmus Coordinator and Bologna Process Committee Member, she has taught since 2005 and focuses on design history, research methods, and cultural identity in design.

• Primary Expertise: Industrial design history, design evolution, memetics, design research methods
• Award: Footwear design recognition (2000-2001)

Her research explores how mundane objects like cigarette packages shape cultural knowledge and national identity. Articles in PAD Journal Online and İTÜ Dergisi Seri A reflect her focus on historical analysis and interdisciplinary design approaches.
