Elie Mulhem, M.D., serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) since 2009, and concurrently as Chief of the Department of Family Medicine at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. Nationally recognized through leadership roles including past presidency of the Midwest Pain Society, he maintains international influence as an associate editor for The Cochrane Library where he has authored over 120 Cochrane Clinical Answers.
His academic foundation includes:

Dr. Mulhem's research program centers on health equity and population health with specialized focus on women's health, evidence-based medicine methodologies, epidemiological analysis of disease disparities, and chronic disease management interventions. His work bridges clinical practice and community health through initiatives like the Population Health Research program developed in partnership with Corewell Health Research Institute and OUWB.
His scholarly contributions have been recognized through:

As an active grant recipient, Dr. Mulhem leads projects addressing critical health disparities including lung cancer screening inequities, COVID-19 outcomes in Arab American communities, and diabetes management through medically tailored meals for food-insecure elderly populations. His administrative leadership extends to chairing OUWB's Department Committee on Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure (DCAPT) in Family Medicine from 2012 through December 2024.
He directs the department's Population Health Research program development through strategic collaborations between Corewell Health Research Institute and OUWB's Population Health initiative, creating integrated academic-clinical research pathways.
