Her research focuses on abuse against older adults with neurocognitive disorders (dementia), including detection methods, victim experiences, and the potential link between past abuse and BPSD (Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia). She is involved in the REAGERA project, which aims to develop validated screening instruments and analyze abuse patterns in dementia patients and their relatives.
This work addresses a critical gap, as existing studies often rely on third-party reports rather than direct patient accounts. The project includes four sub-studies: instrument validation (Study 1), exploration of ongoing abuse experiences (Study 2), investigation of historical abuse (Study 3), and measurement of abuse incidence in special housing settings (Study 4).
