Previously, he held the position of Professor for Marine Engines at the Hellenic Naval Academy (1995–2018). He earned his PhD and Engineering Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens (1987, 1991). His research focuses on marine propulsion systems, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and sustainable energy solutions for maritime applications. He has authored over 60 publications and collaborates with institutions like Cranfield University and AVL List GmbH. Key contributions include studies on alternative fuels (biomethane, hydrogen), emission reduction, and energy efficiency in marine engines. He also serves on advisory boards for maritime innovation centers and has held administrative roles at the Hellenic Naval Academy, including Dean (2004–2009).
Research interests span marine engine diagnostics, renewable energy integration, and decarbonization strategies. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in sustainable energy and climate action. Collaborations include NATO’s Applied Vehicle Technology Panel and the MaRITeC-X Center of Excellence in Cyprus.
Notable projects include the ZEST Project (zero-emission vessels) and lifecycle analysis of floating power plants. Grants and funding support his work on waste heat recovery systems and alternative fuel applications. He is editor-in-chief of the journal Nausivios Chora and actively participates in international conferences.
