Eleonore Zippelius is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. She holds dual diplomas from German institutions: a 1988 Diploma in Landscape Architecture from Offenburg University of Applied Sciences and a 1994 Diploma in Architecture from Technical University Munich. Her professional career spans over three decades in urban design, architecture, and landscape architecture with a focus on strategic urban planning and historic urban regeneration.
Her research interests center on sustainable urban development, urban resilience, cultural tourism destination design, and spatial justice. Key areas include the intersection of public open spaces with urban regeneration, participation in planning processes, and adaptive reuse of historic urban centers. Her work addresses challenges from German reunification urban planning to contemporary refugee area planning in Cyprus.
Recent publications (2018-2019) explore urban resilience in post-conflict zones, smart neighborhood technologies, and spatial justice frameworks. Her research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to urban sustainability and cultural preservation.
