Eleonora Ravizza is a Lecturer in American Studies at the University of Leipzig's Department of American Studies since 2016, teaching primarily within the English Teaching Program since 2011. Her research focuses on gender studies, queer theory, and popular culture, particularly analyzing film and television's engagement with gender politics and nostalgia. She holds an MA and PhD from American Studies Leipzig, with her doctoral work examining 1950s representations in contemporary media.
Her teaching emphasizes critical analysis of American cultural history and popular culture through close reading and theoretical frameworks. Courses include explorations of science fiction, monstrosity, and cultural identity. Ravizza has published widely on topics like nostalgia in Westworld, masculinity in Mad Men, and genre theory, contributing to journals like Comparative American Studies and edited volumes on TV and film studies.
Her work bridges academic rigor with pedagogical innovation, fostering student engagement with interdisciplinary theories such as body theory and genre analysis.
