Eleonora Martinelli is a Researcher at the Laboratory of Stem Cells and Bioengineering Interfaces (LSBI) within the School of Engineering (STI) at EPFL. She holds the Foundation Bertarelli Chair in Neuroprosthetic Technology, focusing on bioengineering innovations for neural interfaces and medical devices. Her work integrates stem cell biology, organic electronics, and microelectrode array technologies.
Research interests include neuroprosthetics, electrophysiology of engineered tissues, and development of bioelectronic sensors for medical applications. She has contributed to breakthroughs like the e-Flower 3D MEA system and viral detection devices using organic bioelectronics. Current projects involve creating in vitro models for neural diseases and improving neuron-implant interactions.
