Elena Salguero

Elena Salguero is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, working in the group of Prof. Felix Otto since September 2023. She earned her PhD under Prof. Francisco Gancedo at Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT) and Instituto de Matemáticas de la Universidad de Sevilla (IMUS), following Master's studies at ICMAT and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Bachelor's studies at Universidad de Sevilla.

Her research focuses on Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) with applications in fluid dynamics, free boundary problems (e.g., ocean wave modeling), and physical/biological phenomena. She integrates techniques from harmonic analysis, complex analysis, and functional analysis to study dynamic systems like free boundary evolution and energy landscapes.

She also explores interdisciplinary connections in kinetic theory and PDEs arising from natural processes. Outside academia, Elena enjoys hiking, music, DIY projects, coffee with friends, and summer swimming trips to Cossi.
