Dr. Elena Pulvirenti is an Assistant Professor in the Applied Probability group at Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics (TU Delft). She earned her PhD in Mathematics from Università degli Studi Roma Tre in 2013 and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Crete and Leiden University before joining TU Delft in 2020. She was a postdoc at the University of Bonn (2016-2020) with a maternity leave period in 2017-2018.
Her research centers on mathematical statistical mechanics, metastability, phase transitions, and stochastic processes. Key themes include metastability analysis in disordered spin systems (Curie-Weiss-Potts, Glauber dynamics), critical droplet fluctuations in the Widom-Rowlinson model, and coarse-graining techniques for particle systems.
She co-organized the Young Women in Mathematical Physics workshop (Bonn, 2018) and frequently presents at international conferences on kinetic theory and metastability. Her publications develop rigorous frameworks for phase transitions in continuum systems and ensemble equivalence.
Current projects include metastability in Hopfield models and run-and-tumble particle systems, advancing mathematical tools for condensed matter physics.
