Elena Pibernik is a doctoral student and part-time academic lecturer/researcher at the Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism (EJT) at Mid Sweden University. She works within the ETOUR research center, focusing on collaborative governance and visitor monitoring in protected areas through the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action VIMAS.
Research interests include:
- Cultural landscapes and sustainable tourism strategies
- Human-nature relationships in spatial planning
- Policy frameworks for protected area management
- Regional development dynamics in rural contexts
- Intersections between perception, identity, and contemporary art
She holds a BSc and MSc in Architecture from ETH Zurich, with specialization in spatial transformations and landscape architecture. Her professional experience spans spatial planning and development roles since 2019.
