Elena Parmiggiani

Elena Parmiggiani is an Associate Professor in CSCW and Digital Collaboration at the Department of Computer Science, NTNU, and Deputy Head of Department for Sustainability. She holds a secondary 20% Senior Researcher position at Sintef Nord in Tromsø. Her academic leadership includes roles as Associate Editor of the CSCW Journal and European Journal of Information Systems, and Norwegian Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems.

Educated at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (BSc/MSc Computer Engineering) and NTNU (PhD in Computer Science), her research focuses on sustainable digital platforms, responsible AI, data curation, and socio-technical systems. Methodologically, she uses ethnography-inspired interpretive approaches grounded in IS and STS theories.

Her recent projects include leading the AI4Users initiative (2020-2025) exploring human-AI collaboration in welfare services, and managing the Digital Enterprise Research Priority Area (2019-2022). Key themes include digital transformation governance, labor displacement in AI adoption, and infrastructuring practices in public and private sectors.
