Elena Ongaro is a research assistant (wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin) and PhD student at the Department of German Philology, University of Göttingen, since April 2024. She works on German sentence adverbs, focusing on their morphosyntactic properties and historical development, combining diachronic and synchronic approaches.

- M.A. in Germanic Philology and Linguistics, Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia (2020-2024)
- B.A. in German and Russian Language, Literature, and Linguistics, Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia (2017-2020)
- Thesis: A corpus-based, diachronic study of the semantic development of the sentence adverb "unfortunately" in German
Her research interests span synchronic/diachronic grammar of German, Germanic historical linguistics, grammaticalization, and corpus/computational methods. She is part of the RTG (Research Training Group) project on sentence adverbs in German, supervised by Prof. Dr. Marco Coniglio and Prof. Dr. Eric Fuß. She also has expertise in corpus linguistics and computational text analysis.
