Elena Gianasso is an Associate Professor in the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning (DIST) at the Polytechnic University of Turin, specializing in History of Architecture (CEAR-11/A). She holds a position within Area 0008 - Civil Engineering and Architecture and maintains an active research and teaching profile.
Her research interests focus on History of Architecture, particularly the early modern period, Baroque, eclecticism, cultural heritage, architecture and patrons, and professions in architecture. Her work examines the constructive events of projects within their political, economic, social, and cultural contexts from the 17th to 19th centuries, with emphasis on historical sources, urban heritage, and architectural professions.
Her recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a consistent focus on Turin's architectural heritage, particularly the Citadel, Guarino Guarini's works, and historical construction practices. These works reflect her interdisciplinary approach combining architectural history, urban studies, and cultural heritage preservation.
