Elena Fusar Poli is a Research Fellow at the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG), Italy. She holds a PhD in Philosophy and Human Sciences from the University of Milan (2023), with a thesis titled “(Re)Learning from the Pandemic: hacer comunidad facing Covid-19,” focusing on indigenous and mestizo communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. Her research explores social responses to pandemics, traditional agricultural techniques (e.g., Milpa-system), and indigenous medicine. She teaches Cultural Anthropology and Nursing Sciences at the University of Milan and Catholic University of the Sacred Heart – Brescia. She is affiliated with the Departmental Laboratory UNIMI “FUEL – Feminist and Queer Philosophy.”
Current projects include the SAFWA initiative on integrated pest and water management. Her work bridges anthropology with sustainability, emphasizing community resilience and agroecological practices.
