Eleanor Wakefield is a Senior Instructor and Director of the Composition Program in the English Department at the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD in poetry and poetics, with a dissertation titled Extending the Line: Early Twentieth-Century American Women's Sonnets, focusing on works by Edna St. Vincent Millay, Sara Teasdale, and Helene Johnson. Additionally, she has published on Robert Frost.
Since 2010, she has taught writing and literature at the University of Oregon, expanding her instructional experience since 2008. She co-edited the casebook/textbook Politics of Sports and oversees the Writing Lab (located in Tykeson Hall 351). She also serves as the Vice President for Non-Tenure-Track (NTT) instructional faculty at United Academics.
Her research interests emphasize modern American poetry, gender studies in literary history, and pedagogical approaches to writing instruction. She actively contributes to academic governance and supports NTT faculty advocacy through her role in United Academics.
