Eleanor Helms is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at California Polytechnic State University, where she contributes to the Religious Studies Program and co-leads the Between the Species journal, an open-access publication exploring human-animal relationships. Her academic work bridges Continental Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Applied Ethics, with a focus on Environmental Philosophy and Animal Ethics.

Helms has received recognition for her work, including the 2013 First Place Res Philosophica Journal Essay Competition award and a 2017 Cal Poly Summer Research Grant. She actively participates in academic service as a Søren Kierkegaard Society representative and co-editor of The Kierkegaardian Mind (Routledge).
