Professor Eleanor Gates-Stuart is an Honorary Professor at Edith Cowan University's School of Arts and Humanities. She holds a PhD in Science Communication (Science & Art) from the Australian National University (ANU), in collaboration with CSIRO. Her work bridges science, art, and technology through interdisciplinary projects involving VR/AR, bioart, and data visualization. She has held professorial roles globally, including adjunct positions at Charles Sturt University (CSU), where she co-founded the CSU eXtended Reality Collaborative (XRC).
Her research focuses on digital storytelling, interactive installations, and bioart experiments exploring human identity through biotechnology and patterns. Notable projects include 'Growing Likeness,' a bioart exhibition at ECU, and collaborations with museums, research institutions, and industry. She actively engages in public science communication through exhibitions, lectures, and international partnerships.
Professor Gates-Stuart’s creative practice emphasizes audience interaction via immersive environments and digital twins, blending art with scientific inquiry. Her work has been featured in exhibitions, publications like Alan Male’s Illustration: A Theoretical and Contextual Perspective, and public events such as the City of Wanneroo’s 'Art meets Science' series.
