Dr. Elaina Collie-Duguid is a Researcher at the University of Aberdeen, affiliated with the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition and the Centre for Genome Enabled Biology and Medicine (CGEBM). She manages CGEBM, which coordinates genomics facilities and interdisciplinary research, while leading a Cancer Biomedicine research group focused on breast cancer and chemoresistance mechanisms.
- Education:
- BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology, University of Queensland (1990)
- PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Aberdeen (1997)
Research Interests revolve around molecular and cellular mechanisms of tumorigenesis, survival in solid tumors, and genomic tools for disease understanding. Her work spans biomarker discovery for clinical outcomes and novel drug target identification in cancer therapy.
Recent Publications highlight her interdisciplinary impact, including studies on gut microbiome effects on radiotherapy, antiviral peptides in scorpion venom, and gene regulation in skeletal muscle development. These works reflect her expertise in genomics, translational medicine, and microbial interactions.
Teaching Responsibilities include level 5 courses like Bioinformatics (MB5021) and Drug Metabolism (MT5003), alongside supervision of MSc genomics students and intercalated BSc teaching on genetic variation.
CGEBM Leadership involves providing strategic direction for genomics research, with expertise in next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
