Elżbieta Sikora

Professor Elżbieta Sikora serves as Head of the Department of Organic Chemistry and Technology at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Cracow University of Technology. She maintains an active research and teaching profile with extensive expertise in cosmetics technology and natural raw materials.

Her research focuses on low-volume technologies encompassing the acquisition, testing, and application of natural raw materials in cosmetics, medical devices, and household chemicals. Professor Sikora specializes in the study of phase boundary phenomena, including preparation and testing of multiphase systems such as emulsions, microemulsions, nanoemulsions, liquid crystal systems, lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, and gels as forms of controlled delivery of active ingredients.

Professor Sikora has implemented numerous research projects from 1997-2021, including PB-3/T09B/045/13 (KBN promoter grant) on methyl alcohol conversion, PBS1/A5/18/2012 (NCBiR project) on new generation development, POKL 04.01.01-00-189/14 on engineering career competencies, RPMA.01.02.00-14-5729/16, and RPMP.01.02.01-12-0186/19 on medical devices based on nanogel for skin inflammation treatment.

Her international research experience includes two research internships at the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia, IQAC-CSIC, Barcelona (2011 and 2014).

Professor Sikora teaches a comprehensive range of courses including Chemistry of Cosmetic Raw Materials, Cosmetic Emulsions Troubleshooting, Phytocosmetics, Physical Chemistry of Cosmetic Formulas, Anti-aging Cosmetics, Natural Cosmetics, Sunscreen Cosmetics, High-purity Materials, Basics of Cosmetic Technology, and Biologically Active Ingredients in Cosmetic Products.
