Prof. Dr. Dr. Ekkehard Haen is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Regensburg, leading the Clinical Pharmacology Group at the Chair and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. His interdisciplinary work integrates clinical practice, research, and teaching to optimize pharmacotherapy in psychiatry.

Research interests include pharmacovigilance, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), drug interaction databases, and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies. His work addresses psychiatric pharmacotherapy safety, caffeine's role in psychiatry, and analytical method development for psychotropic drugs.
Recent publications focus on TDM for SSRIs, antiepileptics, and Alzheimer's medications using HPLC/UHPLC, alongside pharmacoepidemiological studies of prescribing patterns. Collaborations span the Drug Commission of the German Medical Association (AkdÄ) and BfArM.
Scientific awards include the Hoechst Chronobiology Award (1987), Sanofi-Synthelabo Research & Development Prize (2002), and Leibniz Society membership (2010).
