Eivind Almaas

Eivind Almaas is a Professor at the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences, NTNU. His research focuses on systems biology, complex biological networks, and epidemiological spread, with applications in antibiotic alternatives (via bacteriophage evolution) and metabolic modeling in beer brewing. He leads the Almaas Lab, collaborating on projects like the Hunt Center for Molecular and Clinical Epidemiology. Recent work includes predictive metabolic evolution, household-targeted pandemic strategies, and yeast metabolic engineering. He has advised multiple PhD students (e.g., Martina Hall, Jakob Pettersen) and published extensively in Molecular Systems Biology, PLOS ONE, and BMC Bioinformatics.
