Eitan Altman is a full Professor at INRIA Sophia Antipolis, where he has held a tenure position since 1994. He has coordinated numerous projects in game theory, stochastic modeling, and wireless network optimization.
- Director of Research (Full Professor equivalent) at INRIA since 2009
- Invited Professor at LIA, University of Avignon since 2005
Education:
- Habilitation (1998) - University of Nice-Sophia-Antipolis
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (1990) - Technion, Haifa, Israel
- B.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) - Electrical Engineering, Technion (1985)
- B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) - Physics, Technion (1985)
Altman's research bridges game theory applications with telecommunications systems, focusing on network optimization, stochastic control, and dynamic resource allocation. His work includes modeling multi-hop ad-hoc networks, analyzing mobile network protocols, and developing power-saving mechanisms for wireless standards.
Key scientific awards include:
- Distinguished Technical Achievement Recognition Award (IEEE TCBD, 2017)
- Isaacs Award (Society of Dynamic Games, 2014)
- Grand Prix France Telecom (French Academy of Sciences, 2012)
- INRIA Excellence in Research Award (2009)
- Best Associate Editor Award (Computer Networks, 2003)
Altman has served as Associate Editor for multiple journals including IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and Journal of Dynamics and Games. He has coordinated European projects like BIONETS and CONGAS, and held leadership roles in workshops such as WiOpt and NetGcoop.
