Eileen Hunt is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, specializing in political theory with a focus on modern political thought, feminism, ethics of technology, and philosophy-literature intersections. She earned her PhD from Yale University in 2001.
Research Focus: Her work centers on Mary Shelley's political philosophy, feminist interpretations of historical texts, and the ethical implications of technological advancement. Key themes include:
- Rights theory (especially children's and women's rights)
- Postapocalyptic imagination in literature
- Pandemic narratives and their sociopolitical impact
- Feminist reinterpretations of Enlightenment thinkers
Awards & Grants: She received the David Easton Award for her book Artificial Life After Frankenstein and holds multiple grants (NEH, ACLS, Sloan Foundation, Bodleian Libraries) supporting her work on Wollstonecraft and Shelley.
