معرفی
Professor Eihab Abdel-Rahman is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Engineering. He has been with the university since 2005, progressing from Assistant Professor to his current position as Professor. His academic journey began with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Kuwait University in 1988, followed by an MSc (1991) and PhD (1997) in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Toledo.
Abdel-Rahman's research spans multiple cutting-edge domains with a primary focus on nonlinear dynamics of electromechanical and biomechanical systems. His work has led to significant contributions in MEMS/NEMS sensors and actuators, micro-power generation, and workplace ergonomics. He has developed innovative approaches to modeling and simulation of micro and nano electromechanical systems, identifying important phenomena such as the 'dynamic pull-in' instability in electrostatic MEMS devices. His research has resulted in practical applications including wideband micro-power generators (with 200-600% improved bandwidth), threshold-type mass sensors, and novel RF MEMS switches.
His recent publications demonstrate continued innovation across multiple fronts, from electrostatic actuation techniques to biomechanical applications in construction safety. The article trends show a consistent focus on nonlinear dynamics applied to both MEMS technology and human biomechanics, reflecting his dual expertise in mechanical systems and biological applications. His work bridges fundamental dynamics research with practical engineering solutions.
