Dr. Ehsan Shamsi Gooshki is a Lecturer at Monash University's Bioethics Centre and holds internationally esteemed roles such as Vice-Chair of the WHO Ethics Review Committee and UNESCO's International Bioethics Committee. He previously served as Associate Professor of Medical Ethics at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and held leadership positions in Iran's national bioethics governance. His work focuses on global health ethics, research ethics, and clinical ethics, with significant contributions to pandemic ethics during the COVID-19 crisis. He has developed national guidelines on research ethics, clinical ethics, and healthcare equity for vulnerable populations.
Dr. Shamsi earned his MD from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (2005) and a Ph.D. in Medical Ethics from Tehran University (2013). He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles in journals like The Lancet and Nature Medicine, and has advised global health organizations including the WHO and UNESCO. His research interests include ethical governance in non-democratic contexts, bioethics in public health emergencies, and the ethical challenges of sanctions in healthcare systems.
