معرفی
Professor Ehmke Pohl is a Professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Biosciences at Durham University and Co-Director of the EPSRC MoSMed CDT. His research focuses on determining protein structures relevant to biomedicine and biotechnology using techniques like protein crystallography, small-angle X-ray scattering, and electron microscopy. He leads the Virus-X project, an EU Horizon2020 initiative exploring bacteriophage-derived enzymes. His work spans transcriptional regulator proteins, thermal shift assays for protein stability, and structural drug design against diseases like tuberculosis and leishmaniasis.
Research Interests: Protein Crystallography, DNA-binding proteins, drug design, enzyme discovery, and structural biology. His lab is equipped with advanced facilities in the Biophysical Sciences Institute, including protein production, biophysical characterization, and crystallography tools.
Publications span structural biology, enzyme mechanisms, and drug discovery, with recent focus on retinoic acid pathways, parasitic enzymes, and antimicrobial resistance. Awards include the Christopherson/Knott Fellowship and leadership roles at the MAXIV Synchrotron. Supervision includes multiple PhD students in areas like parasitology, drug design, and enzyme engineering. Funding from EPSRC, BBSRC, and Horizon2020 supports his interdisciplinary projects.
