Eeva Pyörälä is a Senior Lecturer in University Pedagogy at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Life Science Education Centre for University Pedagogy (HYPE). She serves as an Adjunct Professor in Sociology and University Pedagogy and is a AMEE Fellow, reflecting her global impact in medical education. Pyörälä supervises doctoral students in the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Research and Population Health.

She explores how actor simulations and digital tools enhance communication skills and collaborative learning.
Scientific Awards include the AMEE Fellowship (2018), Golden Medal of the Scientific Community (2022), and Top Paper Award (2012). She has also received Medical Candidate Society's Teacher of the Year (2009) and the Teacher Academy's Honor Certificate (2023).
Pyörälä has held leadership roles in editorial boards (BMC Medical Education, Medical Teacher) and committees (AMEE Fellowship Committee, AMEF, Finland). She leads projects on ungraded assessment, mobile learning, and distance education quality, emphasizing innovation and student-centered approaches.
